Why We’re In Love with the IPHA Swis Pod System

Another pod system? We get it, we’re probably even more frustrated with the unending parade of new pod systems then anyone, but we just couldn’t help ourselves…There is a lot to be excited about when it comes to the IPHA Pod System – even though it looks like an at-home pregnancy test.

The Familiar

We should get this out of the way first, Swis pods fit in the Juul, Juul pods fit in the Swis. They have not re-invented the wheel here. There are definitely some improvements, certainly some things they should have done differently and while we don’t want to turn this into a comparative review between the Swis and the Juul, it’s almost impossible not to, considering the similarities and cross-compatibility.

Style

Though it’s shaped like a blown-up stick from a pack of Fun Dip, there is a lot to be said about the ergonomics. It’s sleek and slips into the pocket, the finish is flawless and smooth, and it’s light and balanced enough to hold between your lips and teeth like the Juul, but unlike many other pod systems on the market.

Design

From the ground up, the design of the IPHA Swis Pod System is unique and functional. The tolerances of everything on this device are precise, which makes putting it together feel like snapping together a LEGO set. It comes with a handy steel cap that protects the pod, airflow and charging port from lint and other pocket debris but amazingly still lets you vape from it!

This particular feature is a bit of a double-edged sword though. The charging port is indeed protected, but it means that you can’t charge it without removing the cap – and with no other to attach the cap to the device, you’ll have to find somewhere to put it while the battery charges. Not a deal-breaker, but certainly annoying.

Performance

The Swis outclasses the Juul when it comes to battery life by 50% (300mah vs 200mh respectively), and it’s conveniently charged via a standard micro USB. It’s also regulated at 5.5W, which although lower than Juul’s estimate 6-8W range, doesn’t seem to affect the hit or vapor production at all as we found  the exact same pod vaped the same on either device. Juul pods perform equally well in either device, but the Swis’ pods are even better. With identical 0.7ml capacity, there’s not much to be gained, but the Swis pods are refillable! This means you can use your favourite flavours, nicotine levels and blends to your heart’s desire with the added benefit of multiple refills of the same pod. We noticed a performance drop in terms of flavour and vapor after four refills of the Swis pods, but that’s still four times as many as the Juul. Though we prefer to vape our Swis with the protective cap removed, leaving it on certainly isn’t unpleasant – more of an airy’er and milder hit really. The only real downside is another double-edged sword: those tight tolerances mean that swapping the pods (Juul pods as well) out can be a bit of a struggle, especially in cold weather with numb fingers. We also imagine that those with limited dexterity or arthritis would have a tough time removing a new pod, but the good news is that after you get it out once, the second, third and fourth times are much easier.

The Verdict

Overall, we can tell this pod system is the result of tons of development and is an absolute home run. The craziest part is that it’s only $39.99 for the kit and $9.99 for a pack of 4 pods (at least 16 refills minimum). Whether you’re looking for a device that does everything the Juul does (only better, at a better price), a way to get that Juul feeling with your favourite flavours and strengths or just a more stylish way to enjoy your classic Juul pods, we cannot recommend the IPHA Swis Pod System enough.

Let us know what you think – but we know you’re going to love it.
