Uwell - Caliburn Koko Pod Kit Review
The Caliburn Koko is a follow-up to Uwell's original Caliburn with a new form factor. The Caliburn Koko is a thin, square-shaped pod system with a built-in 520mAh battery and a maximum output of 11 watts (the same as the original Caliburn). Design
The Caliburn Koko is a thin, square shaped device. It's made of the same aluminum alloy as the original Caliburn from Uwell. The Koko, including the pod, is 67mm long, 43mm wide and 12mm thick. It's really small! The logo on the front and back of the unit is a little glossy and may pick up a few finger prints, but overall, the Koko is a very nice looking device. A chain lanyard comes in the box, and because of how small and light this device is, you can wear it around your neck if you’re afraid of misplacing it.
Flavour Production
Both of the 1.2ohm pods that came with the Koko kit worked well – no leakage or gurgling. The production of flavour and vapour was spot-on and I got out of each pod about 2-3 weeks before it had to be replaced. For me personally, the flavour of the 1.2ohm pod is a little bit stronger than the 1.4ohm pods that come with the original Caliburn. This is mainly due to the slightly lower resistance of the Koko pods which provides a bit of a warmer vape. Both pods are interchangeable between the Koko and the original Caliburn.
Overall Performance
If you’re familiar with the original Caliburn from Uwell, the Koko won’t be much of a surprise. Aside from the newer pods, lack of fire button and it’s different shape, the Koko will perform just as well as the original. With that lack of a fire button, the Koko solely relies on an auto-draw censor in order to activate. Simply inhale on the mouthpiece at the top of the pod and the Koko
will get to work. This also means that you don’t have to worry about turning the Koko off when putting it in your pocket or bag. This is a big plus for users that have a habit of forgetting to turn their device off.
Battery Life
The Caliburn Koko has the same 520mAh battery as the Caliburn, which may be a little disappointing to some. The battery life isn’t bad at all, but an upgrade to a larger battery would have been nice. There's an LED on the Caliburn Koko that lights up every time you inhale on the mouthpiece, its colour indicates the level of your battery:
- Green: 100-60%
- Blue: 60-30%
- Red: 30-0%
Verdict
The Caliburn Koko is not a great deal different from the original Caliburn. However, there's a lot to like about the Koko. The flavour and the vapour are spot-on, easy to use and very comfortable to hold. The newer pods offer a warmer draw, and the different form factor and lack of any buttons may be pleasing to some users. If you're a flavour hunter and you enjoy a loose mouth-to-lung draw, then the Koko is definitely a great choice.
